East Calvary Field.
When Confederate Major General J. E. B. Stuart attempted to move his cavalry to a position in the Federal rear and attack them as a followup to Pickett's Charge, he was met by the Union cavalry under Brigadier General David Gregg and Brigadier General George Armstrong Custer here at East Cavalry Field.
The buildings on the left are part of the John Rummel Farm, which figured heavily in the fighting.
The assault was repulsed and the Union rear remained unthreatened.
