Honorable E.W. Stanton, Secretary of War,

I would like to inquire as to whether Mrs. Lincoln will accompany the remains?
In such case, I will oblige you by presenting my condolences to her and to offer that I will of course respect her and the family by making my home her home during her melancholy sojourn here. I am at her complete service. May I beg the favor of an answer?

Gov. Andrew Curtain
